ROCK & POP GUITAR SESSIONS: 'SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT', NIRVANA - WITH LUKE HIGGINS
Watch session guitarist Luke Higgins give his take on 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' by Nirvana. The iconic riff in the opening bars of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ hooked Luke: ‘I know for me, probably at the earliest stages of learning guitar, it was a riff that I desperately wanted to play. The combination of the power chords and the muted percussive strumming gives it so much aggression and attitude.’ Kurt Cobain used an Electro Harmonix Polychorus on the track, and Luke said he rushed out and bought it like many others at the time.
Luke Higgins is a London-based professional session guitarist and is currently working with James Arthur and Pixie Lott.
