Clash of the Bands & Solo 2012 Competition in Singapore

David Bobby, Head of Business Development at Trinity College London, is in Singapore visiting our representatives. He also got to judge a music competition in his spare time! David was invited to be on the judging panel for the inaugural Clash of the Bands & Solo 2012, which took place on Sunday 24th June at the Republic Polytechnic.

There were an overwhelming number of entries, which were whittled down to just six soloists and ten bands who showcased their talent at the semi-finals event. The standard of competition was very high and after much deliberation, the judges selected three soloists and six bands to go through to the finals, which will take place on Friday 29th June. Good luck everyone!

After an exciting evening of judging talent, David arranged a special event the following day for music schools and private music teachers to introduce Trinity Rock & Pop. David set out the syllabus, including song lists, exam structure and the marking scheme as well as offering support to both teachers and candidates. The syllabus was brought to life by musicians demonstrating top hit songs covering instruments such as the keyboard, drums, bass and vocals. The event was a great success and the teachers enjoyed learning about the new syllabus as well as sharing tips and ideas with each other.
